Hello Everyone,

To start, this post is to thank everyone that has helped out with eAthena's financial burden due to a theft of our data. Below is a quick update on what happened so people will know.

The general story

A little back story to help explain things better - For the past year or so Frantech has shared rack space with a company (who will remain nameless for now) at steadfast networks. While we've had our disputes (mostly on how to setup something, nothing ever serious), things had been ok for the past while. In the past month, though, relations started to head south and Frantech was in the midst of moving all operations to gigenet, another Chicago based datacenter.

What actually went on

On June the 28th all of our hardware went offline. At first we thought it was either a switch problem, a network burp or, long shot, an abuse claim and a wide nullroute (unlikely but we've had datacenters null entire C's on us before). What really happened, though, was our racking partner literally went to the datacenter and removed our harddrives from our Windows Nodes and MySQL Node and took them back to his place in Michigan.

The fellow then calls me, claiming Frantech ran up a $12,000 invoice (we haden't, our dues were only around $1000), and that if we didn't pay our drives would be formatted. After long discussions Frantech was able to bring down the randsom/extorsion price to "only" $6000, at which point we paid the sum and had our drives picked up and taken to Chicago by a staff member.

The show of support!

After all was said and done and eAthena was back online, the following communities stepped up to the plate to help out financially to try to settle the $6000.00 lost.

The Supporters

- more to be added. If you have donated, please send a PM to Cyxult and he will attach your banner. -

Please note: While all of these people and communities have donated, more help is welcome as we've only chipped a small part of the debt away. As a thank you, all communities/users that wish to help out will be given a spot on this page as a thank you. No, this is not selling of ad space or giving of a banner spot in the top, this is simply a way to show our thanks and for the community to know who was able to step up in a time of great need.

If you wish to donate your self, please do so to francisco@frantech.ca.

Again, Thank you!

I would like to add something as a global reply to the people who say "the internet is srs business" when referencing the aftermath of this situation.
